Block 7 - Laundry Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt Results

The month of January got busy with a lot of things - quilting and life. I did manage to get another set of blocks complete for my Laundry Basket Quilts 2021 Mystery Quilt. Block 7 is wrapped-up!

I’m still working through the very last of the “first-round” (first use) of my fat quarters. For this block, I needed a dark blue set and a light blue set. I went to some of the extra yardage for the back ground color.

What I enjoy about these smaller blocks is I can cut and layout all of the pieces on my cutting board. It’s also letting me refine the “nest” set-up I have going in my craft room. I can easily transfer from cutting board, to sewing machine, to pressing mat.

This block was a half-triangle in a half-triangle block and I’ve not yet constructed anything like this before. I have really enjoyed this Mystery Quilt for teaching me what I feel are more traditional methods I’ve been missing out on in some of my other sewing. There’s also a lot of sewing on the bias - I’ve been glue basting and that has been super helpful.

I’m in love with the final result and can not wait to get it placed with the others in the design wall. I love that there are larger chunks of the light blue and that section of the quilt should start to stand out more.
