November Goal Met!

Goodbye wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and hello Christmas cheer! I’ve been taking a gander at our December schedule and I already know that January 1st will be here too soon.

I may not be sitting at my sewing machine too much until my holiday time off - with a family trip to Manhattan, work trip, Christmas parties, and family visits, we’re booked! And already tired…

However, that didn’t stop me from setting a goal of getting my Perfect Half Square Triangle 2019 Block of the Month (BOM) done this December. Luckily, my work gives us the 23rd, 24th, and 25th off for Christmas and I have some major sewing plans for that time!

And after that, my plate is cleared for a 2020 BOM - yeah, that’s a deal I made with the devil…I mean my quilt buddy Sheria. I had to finish one of the Block-Of’s before I could buy my new one…well, I bought a new one, so I guess I have to finish one. Now, not to put this absurdity all on Sheria, I did make completing my HST BOM my December One-Monthly-Goal with my quilt guild. So, I guess I admit I’m a part of the problem here too.

The new BOM is the Paper Chain BOM - I really do enjoy paper piecing and this BOM focuses on that. I’m hoping this will be a bit less intimidating than my 100 block one (yes, still working on that one too). But, this I promise will be my only BOM for 2020…until, you know…September.

That was a long intro to get to a wrap-up of November. First and foremost, I accomplished my November goal and that was to not only finish my Snowflake quilt but also get it to the quilter. I am happy to report, over Thanksgiving, that’s been done!

Dropped my beauty off at Prairie Flower Crafts and pulled that pink thread for a snowflake pattern.

Then, I had some time and finished up the top for my Christmas Tree skirt. While I was at Prairie Flower I picked up backing and binding. I want to use this project to practice quilting on my home machine. I doubt it’ll be able to be used this Christmas (thanks to Sheria and my stupid goal!), but we’ll be all set for next year!

I was able to use a bit of my stash - the black boarder I had left over from another project (still in the works). I am pretty anxious to try quilting again on my machine - maybe, just maybe I’ll get to this before year end! Remember, this is tree skirt is from a Missouri Star Tutorial - I haven’t used a pattern at all!

I’m looking forward to 2020 and what I want to get accomplished. I’ve been contemplating a “get it finished” project to try to do every month…or a portion of one project over a few months. I’m going to think on it on the work trip and plan it out. Anybody here up to participating in it - head over to Instagram too, I may post a vote in my stories. If you aren’t an Instagram person - leave me a comment below!

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season - here’s to the end of the year! Oh, and before I forget, Xander says “Hello!”
