oh, hello jenny! - an introduction
hello! my name is jenny and i’m the jenny behind oh, hello jenny! quilts.
as this is my introduction, why don’t we start with a few of the basics - maybe first on your mind, my quilt story.
i started quilting last year when i went with my mom to her local quilt store and found a panel i couldn’t say no too. it was a christmas one and is now in it’s home with my step-mom. ps - no, i don’t like to capitalize…you’ll need to get used to that here. needless to say, i fell in love and i’m now hooked. i am by no means a quilt expert, but i love quilting and want to share my quilt journey with anyone who wants to stop by. i’ll tell the stories behind the quilts and hopefully, you’ll maybe even see a few for sale.
but, i do have a goal.
i advocate for the homeless and have been called to serve them. a part of my oh, hello jenny! mission is to bring quilts to the homeless too. so, you will see some of those stories here as well. the goal of my blog is to be an advocate for these beautiful souls and build a new community to support them.
i am also a mother, a working professional (IT audit and compliance), lover of kansas, a volkswagen beetle driver, captain america and marvel fan, magic the gathering card player, reader, writer, classic movie watcher, and coffee lover. so, don’t be surprised if you see a few of these stories sneak in too.
whew - that was a mouthful!
there’s lots in the works, which is exciting. i’m anxious to watch this site grow as i wrap up my masters in a few weeks and begin building this project that has sat on my heart for a year.
so, what am i going to do to kick off my summer - participate in the summer sampler 2019 quilt-a-long! i saw some of the blocks from the 2018 challenge and when i saw the post for 2019, i immediately hoped over and bought the pattern. the hostesses are faith, katie, and lee. they’ve hired some great designers to put together blocks that will be released over the breadth of the summer - one a week (plenty of time to make other quilt projects along side it!). the project finishes in october.
so, if you like the teaser pic below, head over to swim bike quilt and pick up your pattern - there is a facebook group (info in the pattern) and of course, an instagram hashtag (#summersampler2019) that you’ll want to follow for great inspiration. it always amazes me how many different quilts can come from one pattern!
thank you so much for stopping by and taking this journey with me. i have wonderful plans for this site and I hope you’ll stick around for this journey.
