Block 5 - Laundry Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt Results

We’re getting closer to the halfway point with Block 5 of the Laundry Basket Quilts’ Mystery Quilt. I’ve been contemplating if I should start posting two blocks at a time as Edyta announced she’s thinking about kicking off the 2022 Edition in February…but, even then, my posts will go into February based on the current schedule, so we will see.

I’m still working through the first use of all of my fabrics and again, we’ve got the dark blue and yellow with background colors.

This block is a four patch with two blocks being half square triangles.

I picked up some new tools with some Christmas money - a clapper and then the Fineline Glue Tips from Pen & Paper Patterns to try out glue basting. I picked up the clapper from one of my local quilt stores and the glue tips come two in a package and fit on Elmer’s glue.

The clapper is to help get your seams flat (and it does) and the glue basting hopefully will help with my accuracy by keeping the ends of the material aligned.

For this block I placed a thin strip of glue along the edge and then first aligned my seam and pressed outward.

And look at that center seam alignment! I am extremely impressed with these - both from the precision AND the cuteness factor. I highly recommend adding both a clapper and glue basting to your arsenal.
