December 2022 - Winter Rose Color Palette
It’s finally here, our December Christmas Palette. While it’s December and Christmas is just around the corner, it does not feel like Christmas-time to me.
I still feel like it should be July.
So, that being said, I wasn’t feeling a traditional Christmas Color palette was in order. So, while grocery shopping I found a magazine with a white and pink Christmas tree and really loved the vibe. So, I came home to see what I could find. Enter “Half-Blown Rose.”
The pink is what drew me to the book and with the blue sky, I felt like we’d get a beautiful “cold” palette. I was not disappointed.
Here’s the Paintbrush Studio’s Colors I ended up matching. Quick note - in the blocks, I use different pinks in the fabric pull than the color swatches they have available. Why? Well, the Rosebud is missing from their swatch download, so I kept my original. However, the pinks listed below are the ones you’ll want to get if you decide to use this for a project.
99 - Rice Paper (this is my favorite white neutral from Paintbrush!)
20 - Sky
38 - China Blue
148 - Impatient
68 - Rosebud
It really is gorgeous - and the quilt block is wonderful.
In fact, I loved the block so much, I made a quick baby sized quilt mock-up!
I think we’ll keep both the block and quilt mock-ups - it’s so fun to see how these turn out. I’ve been doing a lot of English Paper Piecing (EPP) lately, so I’m going to see if there’s a way to do an EPP Block mock-up too.
It always makes me so happy when I see something inspiring out in the “real world” and it turns out so wonderful in real-life.
I’m still working on finishing my “Kingdoms of Savannah” book. It and this book are not my traditional fantasy reads, but I will get these read. I’m looking into how to link/share these books on StoryGraph to where you can get the list of books to add to your “To Read” pile if they inspire you.
Enjoy! And I wish you all a Happy Holiday season!
