it has been a hot minute - let's catch up

i tell you what - going this long without blogging was not my intent. but life caught up with me.

first, some news - i had given my notice at work and that’s been…draining. i’ve pretty much been coming home, putting on either a classic or super hero movie, sewing my block for the 100 days 100 blocks challenge, dinner, and then bed. while i am super excited for my new position, losing and closing relationships is hard for me.

i don’t like saying goodbyes - they are very hard for me. saying good-bye to people, even work colleagues, is tough when you realize you won’t cross paths again with many of them. it is hard on my soul.

thankfully, i have my quilting and that has helped - i’ve had days where i’ve been “just sit down and sew.”

and sewing has made life better. but, let me get you caught up on my 100 days 100 blocks. while i won’t break down each block this go around - here’s each set of five up to block twenty (right now we’re on day twenty-two).

i am so in love with how each block turns out. i really do say each time i finish that the current block i’m working on is my favorite. i’m learning so much about paper piecing - namely, getting used to sewing backwards. i’ve really started to focus on how the pieces go together and taking extra time before sewing everything together so i can learn about the layout and how to design a paper-pieced pattern.

in other news, i’m working on getting the blog for prairie flower crafts all set-up. over there, i’ll preview how i used deb tucker’s corner pop tool to help me with their row-by-row pattern and how i adapted it to make it work for me! i am a firm believer that the corner pop tool needs to be in every quilters stash! three words - perfect. snowballed. corners. here’s a little sneak of the blocks -

i also used deb tucker’s tucker trimmer for the half-square triangles and plan to review the perfect half-square triangle paper piecing, tucker trimmer, and perfectly slotted trimmers for you too.

hope you’ve enjoyed catching up with me - there will be more to come and lots planned!
